Gate 4 Shoreline Stabilization This important collaboration between Southern Maryland RC&D and the Navy resulted in the stabilization of 2,500 linear feet of severely eroding Chesapeake Bay shoreline with revetment construction at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Charles County. The project also resulted in the creation of three acres of fish and wildlife habitat and the treatment of five acres for invasive species. Southern Maryland RC&D provided contract and funding administration services. The partner partnership received recognition for this cooperative conservation effort with Coastal America Spirit Award. The project was completed on July 28, 2005.
