This cooperative effort between Southern Maryland RC&D and the Navy addressed shoreline stabilization and invasive species control in the context of a recreational facility within a military base. Working closely with Pax River Naval Air Station natural resources staff and St. Mary's County Soil Conservation District, Southern Maryland RC&D helped to stabilize 2,000 linear feet of eroding shoreline, control 5,000 square feet of invasive fragmities and create 3,000 square feet of tidal marsh habitat. The project generated nearly 600 hours of volunteer assistance. The project was completed on June 10, 2006.
