La Plata Urban Forestry Development

Southern Maryland RC&D, working closely with Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Cooperative Extension and the Town of La Plata, helped implement urban forestry projects designed to expand tree cover and educate land owners and developers on the importance of urban trees. The project resulted in the use of recycled resources, planting of greenway strips, conservation plan development and considerable community involvement in tree planting activities. The project was completed on September 1, 2004.
