Annual Awards Dinner Held April 30!

The Southern Maryland Resource Conservation & Development Council (RC&D) recently celebrated another year of successful partnerships in Southern Maryland at their Annual Awards Dinner on April 30th at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees in Waldorf, MD.
Over 50 people attended the dinner including Dick Myers-Assistant to Senator Barbara Mikulski, Senator Thomas “Mac” Middleton, Delegate Peter Murphy, Candidate for Charles County Commissioner Ken Robinson, Secretary of Agriculture Buddy Hance and USDA-NRCS Maryland State Conservationist Jon Hall.
RC&D Program Officer Franklin Holley and Charles Soil Conservation District Engineer Glenn Gass presented on RC&D’s programs and projects over the last year, including our extensive natural resources management work with the US Navy.
Awards were then presented to Board Members, Staff and Partners for their contributions.
John Gray was awarded Board Member of the Year.
John has been on the Board for only a year but is very instrumental in the Dry Fire Hydrant projects and has become an important force in efforts to restore the Mill Brook Grist Mill. Jim Bardsley was given the W. Mitchell Digges Project Leadership Award for his five years of service to the Southern MD RC&D Board.
Jennifer David received the Walter Bender Award for her nine years of service on the Board.
Certificates of Appreciation were given to Glenn Gass and John Czajkowski for all their work on the Navy projects and to Franklin Holley, RC&D Program Officer and Denitra Brawner, RC&D Office Associate for all their work for RC&D. An award was also presented to Mark Rose, USDA-NRCS Assistant State Conservationist for Programs, for his support to the RC&D Program. Winners also received citations from Senator Barbara Mikulski’s and Senator Thomas “Mac” Middleton’s offices.
Thanks to everyone for all other their support and hard work towards the efforts of RC&D!
