Partnership Southern Maryland RC&D and MD NRCS partner to provide technical assistance to landowners

Oct 11, 2016 - 3:04:32 PM

In 2015, Southern Maryland RC&D entered into a two year Grant Agreement with Maryland Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to hire employees for five positions to be placed in various Soil Conservation District offices in Maryland. The employees would assist USDA NRCS with technical assistance provided to landowners and accelerate implementation of conservation practices installed through financial assistance programs.   These services will therefore yield faster natural resource improvements associated with agricultural conservation. Some of the job deliverables include:    Producer/Landowner Consultation, Inventory and Evaluation, Design, Survey, Layout and Inspection, Processing New Application and Payment Processing. Currently we have three Soil Technicians and one Program Support Specialist. In September 2016 the agreement was extended for another year through 2017.
