Millbrook Farm Grist Mill Designated 2010 Endangered Maryland Site - Mar 19, 2010 - 11:37:24 AM
The Millbrook Farm Grist Mill is the last surviving water-powered grist mill in Charles County. The mill was recently featured in the March/April issue of Maryland Life magazine as one of the 2010 Endangered Maryland sites. Owned by the Silbaugh family, it is located in Nanjemoy, MD very near the town's original post office and general store. Southern Maryland RC&D is currently working with the Silbaughs to explore restoration opportunities and obtain the necessary funds.

On Friday February 26, 2010 Michelle Edelen got to experience a day at the office. A student of Thomas Stone High School, she enjoyed the experience of learning outside of the classroom. She learned about the sundry of programs and activities they are involved in and the various aspects of agriculture.

RC&D Matches 100% for Outreach Grant to Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry! - Feb 3, 2010 - 3:18:20 PM
The Southern Maryland Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Board, Inc. is pleased to announce that at our Winter Board Meeting held January 21, 2010, the Board voted to offer Southern Maryland Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) a $5,000.00 match to supplement the grant received from the National Association of RC&D Councils awarded in December 2009.

Southern MD Nonprofits Partner to Feed the Hungry, Control Deer Population - Jan 21, 2010 - 11:51:52 AM
Thanks to an Outreach Grant from the National Association of Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Councils, Southern Maryland RC&D and Southern Maryland Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) have begun a partnership to address hunger in Southern Maryland. These funds will go towards increasing the number of high-protein meals provided to minority and underprivileged populations in Southern Maryland while simultaneously contributing to improved local deer habitat and herd health through deer population control.
